Zebilla (UE), May 25, GNA – Mr Francis Abugbilla, a 33-year-old Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Student, has supported the Zebilla Hospital in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other hygienic materials to help fight the spread the Coronavirus disease.
The item, valued over GH¢ 2,000.00, included two boxes of carbolic soap, two boxes of industrial bleach, five boxes of disposal nose masks, and a gallon of alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
Mr Abugbilla is a native of Kpantarigu, a suburb of Bawku West District and is currently pursuing International Relations at Jackson School of International Studies, the University of Washington, Seattle, United States of America.
Mr Abugbilla said the items, which were presented by Mr Napoleon Akolgo, his friend, was made possible with the support of some friends in the USA.
He said the COVID-19 pandemic had caused havoc in many countries including Ghana and therefore it was imperative for a collective effort to be made to help fight the disease.
Whilst commending the frontline health workers in Ghana for risking their lives to help deal with the pandemic, Mr Abugbilla said the resources of the government were limited and all stakeholders had to contribute to defeat the virus.
He appealed to Ghanaians, especially those in the diaspora to support the fight by donating essentials to the health facilities to enable them appropriately deal with the pandemic.
Receiving the items on behalf of the Zebilla Hospital, Mr Samuel Atuba, the Administrator of the facility, expressed gratitude to Mr Abugbilla and his friends in the USA for the kind gesture, which he said was a big boost to the facility in the fight against the spread of the virus.
He said the items would be put to good use and appealed to other individuals and organizations to support with PPE, as it was difficult for the Hospital to get them for the frontline health workers, to protect them against the virus.
