Kumasi, May 22, GNA – Two couples with long-standing friendship, have donated food items and hygiene products to the Kumasi Children’s Home as their widow’s mite towards the upkeep of children at the facility.
Dr. and Mrs. Emmanuel Tinkorang together with Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Koomson presented the items worth GHC3,500.00 to the authorities of the Home at a brief ceremony.
The items included bags of rice, cooking oils, detergents, toiletries, assorted soft drinks, alcohol-based hand sanitizers and a Veronica bucket.
Mrs. Elizabeth Tinkorang who presented the items on behalf of the two families, said the welfare of children in orphanages amidst the coronavirus outbreak must be the concern of every well-meaning Ghanaian.
She said this was the time to show compassion to the less privileged in society because of their vulnerability.
“We are here to contribute our quota towards the upkeep of these children and to give them assurance that people out there care about their well-being,” Mrs. Tinkorang observed.
She said it was important to strengthen the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) facilities at the Home to protect both the children and workers against COVID-19 and called on other philanthropists to support the facility.
Mr. Michael Owusu, a Social Development Officer who received the items, praised the couples for the kind gesture and called for more of such support to complement government’s efforts in providing for the children.
