Effiduase (Ash), May 18, GNA – Pinasol Foundation, a community-based child-centered Non-governmental Organization in the Sekyere East District, has donated food items and cash to some vulnerable households in the area.
The gesture was part of efforts to provide relief to families facing hardships due to the coronavirus disease.
A total of 50 households across the district, with about 250 children received bags of rice, cartons of cooking oil and other cooking items.
Apostle Solomon Asiamah Okyere, Executive Director, speaking during the presentation at Effiduase, said the gesture was to complement the government’s efforts in the fight against the coronavirus disease.
He said the initiative, which formed part of the Child and Family sponsorship program, was focused on providing livelihood relief to the poor and vulnerable families, especially children in the rural and poverty-prone areas.
Apostle Okyere said the donations were necessary because the selected families were going through difficult times in accessing daily meals due to the pandemic.
“Our interview with the beneficiary families revealed that most of them were into the trading of agricultural products, particularly in the nearby commercial towns and Kumasi, and were experiencing difficulties in their trade due to the pandemic”, he stated.
Apostle Okyere commended the sponsors who provided the items and urged benevolent organizations and individuals to support the organization to continue to assist the needy and poor in society.
Ms. Helena Addai, a Widow and beneficiary of the donation at Effiduase commended the NGO for the support and asked for God’s blessings for the organization.
She called on other organizations, especially development partners, NGOs and civil society organizations as well as business entities to provide the needed support to vulnerable families in this hard times of the COVID-19.
