Fijai (WR), May 13, GNA – The College for Community and Organisational Development (CCOD) in partnership with the Institute of Distance and continuous Education (IDCE) of the Takoradi Technical University (TTU) have trained some 27 persons on its Executive Mastery in Organisational Development and Appreciative Leadership programme (EMODAL).
The CCOD EMODAL blends philosophy of experiential learning and facilitation of change practices, while using proven Organisational Development (OD) Client-centered interventions to guarantee participants maximum benefits and absolute sustainability of the consulting training and mentorship.
The EMODAL training was the first to be taken under the partnership but opened to interested individuals to take up such professional programmes for the benefit of society.
Dr Gabriel Gbiel Benarkuu, the President of CCOD and key facilitator indicated, “We use a set of comprehensive training instruments, concepts, models and approaches integrated with the Action-Research Methodology which is professionally client-centered, action-oriented and results-driven”.
The partnership brings to seven the institutions the Sunyani based CCOD University was working with to bring education to the door steps of every Ghanaian.
Currently, the CCOD runs from Accra, Takoradi, Kumasi, Tamale, Wa and Sunyani.
Dr Benarku said learning and education were the passport to the future, as tomorrow belonged to those who prepare for it, adding, “education is the pivot to every country’s economic development”.
He said the Executive Mastery in Organizational Development and Appreciative Leadership (EMODAL) has been designed for top management, Metro/Municipal/Districts/Regional Directors, Religious and Traditional Leaders, Politicians, Heads of Departments (businessmen and academia), Managers, Entrepreneurs and all those in leadership positions or aspiring to become leaders.
Dr. Benarkuu said participants were taken through 14 Organisational Development Sessions, one project work (Using Action Research Model) during the four-day training and encouraged those who wished to pursue Organisation Development Certified Consultant (ODCC) to take advantage.
Professor Safo Ankama-Kweku, the Coordinator for the partnership and Director for the IDCE, said the purpose for the partnership was to facilitate innovative Community Development in Africa, Provide Organisational Development (OD) interventional competencies to individuals, teams and organisations for sustainable growth and change.
He thanked participants for the bold step to be part of the first EMODAL training and urged them to fully take advantage of the new field of knowledge for Africa’s development.
Professor Victor Bondzie Micah, the Pro-Vice Chancellor of Takoradi Technical University who represented the Vice Chancellor commended the CCOD with its approach to bringing education to everyone.
He was enthused about the partnership to provide more professionals in the area of appreciative Leadership and change agents in communities, Organisations and the country at large.
