WA Police arrest five teenagers over stealing

Accra, May 12, GNA – The Upper West Police Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team have arrested five teenagers who succeeded in stealing electronics from Wapaani, Dobile and other areas, in the Wa Municipality, during the wee hours of Sunday.

The suspects all natives of Wa are Richard Ababa-17, mason; Amemunu Musazu, 16, aluminum glass fabricator, Fuseini Haruna, 17, student, Sita Rahinatu, 16, student, and Ibrahim Karim, student.

Inspected Gideon Boateng, the Upper West Regional Police Public Relations Officer, who disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, said the suspects stole various items from the communities on Sunday May 10, 2020.

The stolen items consisted among others six used home theaters, one decoder, which were stolen and found dumped in a room at Wapaani whilst a one 26-inch new flat screen was also found in the possession of Ibrahim Karim.

According to the statement, Police preliminary investigations revealed that, the suspects began their activity at about 1150 hours of May 10, 2020 and kept the items in one particular room and sold the 26-inch flat screen to Ibrahim Karim at 350.00 Ghana cedis, of which he paid 100 Ghana cedis advance.

Mr Boateng said in the statement that the suspects will soon be put before court.

The Upper West Regional Police Commander, DCOP Mr. Francis Aboagye Nyarko expressed his gratitude to the community, and said the Command would always welcome information that will assist the Police to combat criminal activities, the statement added.
