VRA donates to five districts towards COVID-19 prevention

Accra, May 8, GNA – The Volta River Authority (VRA) has presented items worth GH¢210,000 to five districts and municipal assemblies within its operational areas in the Eastern Region towards COVID-19 prevention.

The beneficiaries are Upper Manya, Yilo, Asuogyaman, North Tongu, and the Akwamu Traditional Council.

Each received quantities of Veronica buckets, surgical masks, hand gloves, disposable gowns, gallons of liquid soap, tissue paper, hand sanitizers, non-contact thermometers and a cheque for GHc5,000.00 to support their public education activities on the pandemic.

The VRA Communication Unit said this in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency in Accra on Friday.

It said Dr Rebecca Acquah Arhin, the Medical Director of the VRA Health Services, presented the items on behalf of the Authority.

The statement said VRA had lived by its mantra of ‘Adding Value to Lives’ by diligently executing its public sector mandate as well as meaningfully contributing to improving the lives of the people living in communities impacted by its operations.

The support was part of the low-key activities to commemorate the Authority’s 59th Anniversary, which fell on April 26, 2020.

It stressed VRA’s determination to continually pursue its foundational unique cultures of purpose-driven values and progressive management principles to shape a future linked to its strategy of growth, sustenance and agility.

The statement assured the district and municipal chief executives of the Authority’s commitment to ensuring the safety and health of the people in its catchment areas even after COVID-19 and advised all to ensure strict compliance to the laid down preventive protocols.

The VRA had also presented a cheque for GHC2,000,000.00 to the National COVID-19 Trust Fund in Accra as its contribution to the fight against the pandemic.
