Avatime-Fume (V/R), May 8, GNA – The Avatime-fume Youth Association in collaboration with the Fume Development Committee has presented 500 face masks and other items to residents living in the town.
The face masks are to be distributed to the people as part of efforts to contain the spread of the virus and in line with the mandatory use of the face masks.
Mr Emmanuel Ave, chairman of the Development Committee, said the presentation was to ensure that the people adhered to the precautionary measures to curb the spread of the disease.
He appealed to the opinion leaders and elders of the town to continually educate the people on the need to wear the face masks for their safety because the disease was real.
Already, the Avatime Youth Action Group (AYAG) has donated handwashing stations to all the seven towns in the Avatime traditional area including Fume to support the precautionary measures.
Mr Theophilus Amafoti who received the face masks and the other items on behalf of the Fume COVID-19 task force thanked the Youth Association and the Development Committee for their initiative, adding that due to the restrictions on gathering, the town could not hold its annual Easter fundraising to support their activities.
He said the people would have found it difficult to get the face masks if not for the donation, and assured to distribute the face masks to all households in the community as well as to ensure its strict adherence.
