Koforidua, May 8, GNA – Zoomlion Ghana Limited has begun a five-day fumigation exercise in 114 public and private Senior High Schools (SHSs) against bedbugs in the Eastern Region.
The exercise is carried out in collaboration with the Ghana Education Service as part of a nationwide plan to fumigate all schools to create conducive environment for students when school reopens.
All classrooms, dormitories, dining and assembly halls, administration blocks, and other spaces of each school would be fumigated.
The Corporate Communications Manager of Zoomlion Ghana Limited, Mrs Emma Akyea- Boakye, said the focus was on the control of bedbugs that had invaded the country’s schools.
Mrs. Benedicta Foli, Headmistress of Pope John SHS and Junior Seminary, was grateful to the authorities for the gesture and expressed the hope that the effects of bedbugs on students would be minimised.
She also noted that the fumigation exercise would allay fears of parents and guardians of the COVID-19 pandemic when it was time for school to reopen.
