Accra, May 07, GNA – Lieutenant General Obed Boamah Akwa, Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), has commended the private sector for believing in the expertise, capabilities and skills of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF).
He said the opportunity given to the GAF to demonstrate its capabilities in the fields of engineering, logistics and security, to support the construction of the first Infectious Disease Control, Isolation and Treatment Centre in the country, was an ample testimony of the believe Ghanaians have in the armed forces.
Speaking after inspecting works on the project Lt. Gen. Boamah Akwa, thanked the Ghana COVID-19 Private Sector Fund, sponsors of the project, for bringing the GAF on Board in that historic venture.
The Ghana Covid-19 Private Sector Fund, was established by 10 private individuals and organizations to raise a total of GHC100million, to complement government’s efforts to combat the spread of the coronavirus in the country.
Lt. Gen. Boamah Akwa assured the sponsors that he would show keen interest to ensure that the project was completed on time.
Mr. Senyo Hosi, a Managing Trustee of the Fund, applauded the pivotal role being played by the Ghana Armed Forces in the construction of the centre.
He said the enthusiasm shown and the quality of work being executed since the start of the project was a clear indication that the GAF was a trusted partner, adding that, Ghanaians were deeply grateful to them for their invaluable support.
