Adansi-Akrokerri (Ash), April 28, GNA – Mr Philip Ofori-Asante, an aspiring NPP Parliamentary candidate for Fomena Constituency, has donated some food items to Muslims in the area to support their Ramadan.
The items included 20 bags of sugar, 10 bags of rice, 20 cartons of milk, teabags, among others.
Mr Ofori- Asante at the presentation at Akrokeri, urged the Muslims to pray fervently to God to forgive and heal the nation of the novel coronavirus disease, which had killed many people in the world.
He asked Muslim youth to adhere to the good teachings of the Quran and avoid negative lifestyles and irresponsible acts such as fighting, disrespect for authority, vandalism, and others acts, which could affect their future lives.
Mr. Baba Bamuli, the Acting Chief Imam of Akrokeri, who received the items, commended the aspirant for thinking about the welfare of the Muslim community in the area.
He said the food items had come at the right time since majority of the Muslims were poor and vulnerable and it would help support them during the fasting period.
Mr Baba Bamuli, who is also the Wangara chief of the area, appealed to the people to obey all the protocols outlined by the government to fight against the pandemic.
“We have to respect the government’s directives on COVID – 19 to protect ourselves and that of our family from the disease,” he emphasized.
