Bankyease (WR), April 28, GNA – More than 300 widows, orphans and the aged in the Churches of Christ in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan area and outside have been treated to a feast and given stipends to cushion themselves.
They were given raw rice, canned fish, indomie, sanitizers and loaves of bread plus some stipends to support themselves.
Dr. Dan Owusu Asiamah, a Missionary and Preacher for the Takoradi Central Church of Christ, said it was imperative that churches gave back part of the voluntary contribution from its members to the needy, particularly in this trying time.
He stressed the need for churches to contribute in their various localities by identifying needy members in and around their catchment areas for support, bearing in mind the economic challenges the COVID-19 pandemic had brought on families.
“This is not the time to issue Mobile Money numbers to members to continue to pay tithe and offerings, rather this is the time the church must endeavour to do good, particularly to those in the household of faith,” Dr. Asiamah said.
He indicated that the foundation of the church was to do good to all humanity, adding, “We must do our bit for humanity”.
About 300 people benefitted from the church’s benevolence accounting for 13,000 Ghana cedis.
