Ho, April 27, GNA – The Institute of Directors-Ghana (IoD-GH) has successfully completed its first round of country wide training of its members in the use of virtual platforms.
The training forms part of a strategy in response to ensuring business continuity in the wake of the negative socio-economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mr. Rockson Dogbegah, President of the Institute expressed satisfaction about the success of the virtual capacity building programme, adding that other initiatives of the Institute in response to COVID-19 were also underway and at various stages of completion.
He said the Institute would be rolling out its online corporate governance training session for those who gained direct admission on April 30, 2020, and it would be for senior directors who had significant managerial and leadership experience.
Mr Dogbegah indicated that, “never has our economy and business environment been challenged with the level of uncertainty that confronts us today and the need to pull ideas together has never been greater.”
He said the pandemic had created an opportunity for a major overhaul of “our appreciation of the environmental effects of our actions on society and the economy.”
Mr Dogbegah said the current situation called for ethical and effective leadership that inspired hope, and created the appropriate sustainable supporting infrastructure for business continuity.
He said there was the need for a concerted effort by all stakeholders to brace up for a national dialogue, adding that the Institute would soon be organizing such national dialogue.
The participants at the three-day training programme were excited and expressed optimism of the survival of their businesses.
The training was sponsored by BUSAC Fund and its developmental partners – DANIDA and USAID.
