Agona-Asaman (Ash), April 18, GNA – Sekyere Rural bank has donated quantities of protective items to three health institutions in the Sekyere South District to support the fight against the spread of COVID-19 in the area.
The items included; Veronica buckets fitted with stand and washing bowls, boxes of hand sanitizers, hand gloves, face masks, detergents and tissues.
The beneficiary health institutions were Jamase health centre, Pope John Paul hospital at Jamase and the SDA hospital at Agona-Asaman.
Mr Michael Aidoo, General Manager of the bank, speaking at the presentation ceremony at Agona-Asaman, said the gesture was to help strengthen the protection of health workers and frontline staff in the fight against the spread of the virus in the district.
He said equipping and protecting front line staff was crucial to safeguard their safety in the line of duty.
“We find this donation by us not only as a responsibility, but also demonstration of our commitment to the fight against the disease and caring for the welfare of the people, especially those in the rural communities and our operational zones”, Mr Aidoo emphasized.
Mr. Aidoo said plans were underway to extend the gesture to other health institutions and communities in its operational areas.
He said the bank had put in place appropriate safety measures in all its branches to ensure that both staff and customers conducted business in a secured environment.
Dr Peter Adjei Frempong, Medical Director at the SDA Hospital, thanked the bank and said the items would motivate and assure the staff of their safety against infections in the course of their work.
He appealed to people in the district to adhere to the preventive protocols to stay safe from the virus.
