Asante Mampong (Ash), April 02, GNA – The Asante Mampong Municipal Emergency Health Response Team has put in place a number of measures to contain any possible outbreak of the COVID-19 in the Municipality.
As part of the measures, the Team has secured rooms at the St. Monica’s Senior High School to hold suspected coronavirus cases, while six wards at the Asante Mampong Government Hospital had also been earmarked to manage suspected cases.
Mr Thomas Appiah Kubi, the Municipal Chief Executive, told the Ghana News Agency that a rapid taskforce had also been set up to respond to any emergency situations in the Municipality.
He said the Municipality had not recorded any COVID-19 case.
Mr Appiah Kubi said a house-to-house education campaign on the preventive protocols and restrictive measures had been intensified to create awareness for people to protect themselves from contracting the disease.
A number of protective kits and Veronica buckets had been distributed and installed at vantage points in the communities for the people to use.
Mr Appiah Kubi said the taskforce was also collaborating with the Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) and other transport unions to strictly adhere to government directives to reduce the number of passengers they load during this crisis.
