Drinking bar operator granted bail over defilement

Nkawie, (Ash), April 02, GNA – A drinking bar operator who lured a 14-year-old pupil into his room and defiled her, has been granted a GH¢ 60,000.00 bail with three sureties, by the Nkawie circuit court.

Francis Kodua, 27, and who is also a driver, is said to have lured the JHS three pupil, who was on her way to buy drugs, into his room at Abuakwa, in the Atwima-Nwabiagya South Municipality and had several bouts of sex with her.

He pleaded not guilty and would reappear before the court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey on May 27, this year to also allow the police to check the pregnancy and health status of the victim and the accused.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Sylvanus Dalmeida told the court presided over by Mr Michael Johnson Abbey that, the victim and the accused live in the same vicinity at Abuakwa.

He said on March 22, this year, the victim was sick and asked someone to direct her to a drug store to buy some drugs.

DSP Dalmeida said on her way the victim met the accused and after she told him that she was going to buy drugs, the accused asked her to follow him.

The prosecution said when they got near the accused’s drinking spot, he forcefully removed her dress and had sex with her behind the bar.

He then sent her into his room and had several bouts of sex with her until the victim started experiencing some abdominal pain before he let go her.

DSP Dalmeida said when the victim got home, she informed her mother, who made a complaint to the Abuakwa police.

The accused was arrested and in his cautioned statement, admitted of having sex with her but only once,

The police after investigations charged and brought him before the court.
