Three ranches left to rot in Kwahu Afram Plains

By Eunice Tekie Tei, GNA

Donkorkrom (E/R), Feb. 24, GNA- Mr. Samuel Kena, the Afram Plains North District Chief Executive (DEC), has appealed to the Ministry of Agriculture to take steps to activate – make functional three fodder banks left unused in the area to help end sporadic clashes between nomadic Fulani herdsmen and farmers.

These fodder banks are at Agodeke, Mem Chemfre and Amankwaakrom.
Making the appeal through the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Donkorkrom, he said each of them could house up to 1,000 cattle.

Mr. Kena added that they had all necessary facilities required for the running of the fodder banks and expressed worry that the facilities had been left in the bush to rot.
The fodder banks, he noted, could significantly help to boost cattle rearing in the area and generate revenue for the assembly.

That was why everything should be done to make them operational.
