Akrofuom (Ash), Nov. 17, GNA – The Akrofuom District Directorate of National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organised a dialogue for candidates contesting for the parliamentary seat of the constituency in collaboration with the Local Council of Churches.

The event, which sought to provide a platform for the candidates to outline their vision to bring development to the people, was attended by only the National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate, Mr. Joseph Azuma.

Mr Alex Blankson, the incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), failed to show up despite receiving an invitation way ahead of the exercise.

The NDC candidate, in an engagement with participants, elaborated his plans to work with relevant stakeholders to accelerate the development of the constituency.

He spoke about his commitment to pursue initiatives that would boost the local economy and create job opportunities for the teeming unemployed youth in the constituency.

He said it was time for the constituents to give him the opportunity to provide them an inclusive leadership where the welfare of the people would be at the center stage of development.

Mr Azuma also pledged to uphold peace and implored his followers to embrace peace before, during and after the election.

Apostle Michael Adjei Adjetey, Chairman of the Local Council of Churches, emphasised the importance of living in harmony as a people and urged Ghanaians to choose peace ahead of the election.

He said Ghana would be the ultimate winner after a peaceful election where no life would be lost.

Mr Ali Kassim, the District Director of NCCE, urged the electorate to be disciplined and stay away from electoral violence as the electioneering campaigns entered the homestretch.
