Aflao (VR), Oct 27, GNA – Ms Sonia Emefa Ayivor, who served at Wudoaba Basic School has emerged as the 23/24 Overall Best National Service Person at the maiden Ketu South National Service Personnel Association (NaSPA) Dinner and Awards celebration.
She went home with a ceiling fan, home theatre sound bass, 32-inch LED TV set, certificate, citation, and a plaque.
The dedicated and passionate National Service Person (NSP) prior to grabbing the ultimate award, won three other categories, NSP Entrepreneur of the Year, Ideal Woman of the Year and Most Popular NSP.
Speaking to Ghana News Agency after the event, Ms Ayivor expressed gratitude to leadership of Ketu South NaSPA, her family and friends while underscoring the working of God and her dedication to duty for her big win.
The University of Education, Winneba alumnus, who is also into mobile money, cosmetics and phone and phone accessories business advised current personnel doing their one-year mandatory service to the nation to work hard, and be dedicated, while bonding well with their fellow personnel.
Other awards on the night included Entertainment Personality of the Year, which went to Mr Pius Ahiable, Female NSP Personality of the Year, Ms Emefa Kpelly, and NSP Male Personality, Mr Richmond Ocloo.
Also, NSP Advocate/Activist of the Year, Mr Hope Kwasi Ahiabu, Outstanding Teaching NSP, Ms Mavis Ablavi Mensah-Tay and The Most Punctual NSP, Mr Wisdom Yao Amegayi.
The night’s event, which had patrons, mostly NaSPA members, heads of user agencies and traditional leaders treated to thrilling performances from a cultural troupe, also recognised non-NaSPA members for their various contributions.
Mr Rustum Gameli Senorgbe, a class one referee in the Ghana Premier League was awarded a citation of honour for advancing Ketu South NaSPA through offering wise counsel that had bolstered the Association’s initiatives.
“Your contributions have significantly enhanced the progress and reputation of the Association and the Municipality at large. In this season of gratitude, we thank you for your leadership and the positive influence you have had on those around you,” the citation read in part.
Also, Mr Sam Kush of Aflao-based Holy FM and Mr Julius Atisu, formerly of Amenuveve Radio, Aflao, were each presented with a citation of honour for using their media platforms to serve the public good.
Citations were also presented to Torgbui Nyakeli Tortsofia VII, Warlord of Aflao Traditional Council for his exemplary rulership and advocacy for national service with Mr Israel Selikem Bossman, Assembly Member for Denu Electoral Area honoured as the Best Assembly Member in 2024 out of 39 for championing environmental cleanliness and distinguished leadership.
Again, Mr Jarvis Koffie, Ketu South National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Manager was honoured for his humanitarianism and support to NaSPA while Mr Divine Kporha, 2023 National Best Nurse got honoured as Champion of Community Development Advocate for his exceptional role in community development.
And Twin MG Empire, an organisation with a focus on supporting the underprivileged in society was honoured for their support towards activities of Ketu South NaSPA.
Mr Charles Epiphany Ativor, Ketu South NASPA President thanked individuals and groups who had supported his administration thus, making the impact of Ketu South NaSPA felt.
He disclosed that his administration undertook User Agency Tour twice, rolled out NaSPA Impact Initiative, benefiting over 1,500 students in Three-Town, Somé and St Paul’s Senior High Schools by sensitising them on how to find purpose in life and break free from drug and other forms of addiction.
Mr Ativor said the period had seen about 200 personnel either renew or enroll onto the NHIS; NaSPA Drive Clinic, an initiative that helped NaSPA and non-NaSPA members learn driving and secure license with ease; and a major facelift to the Municipal National Service Secretariat worth about GH¢6,000.00.
“We’re currently producing 1,000 customised exercise books to be distributed among brilliant students in society. A chunk of these textbooks will be given to the best 2024 BECE pupil in the municipality as a material scholarship through his/her senior high education. The rest will be distributed to the best year batch student in each of the five second cycle institutions in the municipality,” he added.
