Agona (Ash), Oct. 04, GNA – Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) Limited, has donated 30 desktop computers to three schools in the Afigya Sekyere South District of the Ashanti Region.
The Bank also refurbished (painting, tiling, electrical works) some classroom blocks and spaces for computer laboratories for these institutions.
The beneficiary schools were the Agona SDA JHS, Bedomase D/A Basic School and the Bipoa JHS.
Mr Daniel Addo, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, CBG Limited, at a brief ceremony to present the items to the schools, noted that the district, like many other areas, thrived on agriculture, yet faced challenges in accessing certain essential resources, particularly information technology education.
“In today’s digital age, access to computers is not a luxury but a necessity.
That is why we are here today to help bridge the gap and empower pupils with the tools they need to succeed in the world of technology,” he emphasised.
The Managing Director said the computers and conducive laboratories for practice would open doors to new opportunities, allowing pupils to build essential information technology skills.
He said the CBG believed education was the foundation of any thriving society, pledging the Bank’s continuous commitment to support initiatives that fostered growth and development.
Mr Addo commended the Gyasiwaa Education Support, a community-based organisation, for identifying these schools for the Bank to extend its educational support.
The Head of Inspectorate of Schools, Ghana Education Service, Afigya Kwabre District, Mr Andrew Osei Twumasi, commended the Bank for their benevolence and promised to routinely monitor its maintenance to prolong the shelf life.
He advised the teachers at the various schools to attach seriousness in teaching the pupils practical aspects of information and communication technology.
Headteachers at the beneficiary schools thanked the Bank and Gyasiwaa Education Support for extending assistance to advance the cause of teaching and learning of ICT.
