Ho, Sept. 19 GNA – The Government’s District Roads Improvement Programme (DRIP), has taken off in the Ho Municipality with the construction of a new access road to the University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS).
The expanding University community needs more access roads for the thousands of students and staff, and Mr. Divine Bosson, the MCE said the Assembly considered the new UHAS connect, a priority that would ease commutation to the health training institution.
The MCE said the Diamond Street UHAS bypass, as it was being called, was “strategic” for the University community, and cited the numerous student hostels in the area.
The Municipality has taken custody of a double portion of road construction equipment supplied under the DRIP program, and the MCE led engineers and other officials to carve out the new road.
He therefore thanked the President of the Republic for the initiative and called upon all to support the DRIP programme.
“Support our efforts to DRIP the roads,” he said, urging Ghanaians to renew the mandate of the NPP for a more transformative road sector.
Other roads in the Ho Municipality that formed part of the initial DRIP project include the three kilometres connecting the Adaklu Kodzobi community, and networks in the Godokpui and other expanding communities.
Mr Bosson gave the assurance that all roads in the Municipality would benefit from the programme.
Mr George Kofi Boateng, Volta Regional Coordinator of the DRIP programme said the Government had in place measures to ensure the longevity of the equipment, and said management teams at the various districts were sure to deliver quality.
