Juapong (V/R), Aug. 30, GNA – The President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, has expressed grave concern over the escalating number of chieftaincy disputes in the region.
This, he said, posed a significant threat to peace and stability if left unchecked.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Tongu Chiefs’ Union, Togbe Hodo urged traditional councils to take proactive steps to address minor chieftaincy issues before they escalate into full-blown conflicts.
“The increasing number of chieftaincy disputes in our region is a worrying trend that requires immediate attention. If we fail to tackle these issues head-on, they have the potential to mar the peace in our communities,” Togbe Hodo cautioned.
The Tongu Chiefs Union, comprising 13 traditional areas, has been tasked with harnessing their collective energies to curb chieftaincy conflicts in the region.
Togbe Tepre Hodo emphasized the importance of fair hearing and amicable resolution of disputes to maintain peace and harmony.
“Let us work together to resolve these disputes through dialogue and mutual understanding. We owe it to our people to create an environment of peace and stability,” he added.
The inaugural ceremony formed part of the efforts to promote unity and cooperation among traditional leaders.
