Awudome-Avenui (V/R), Aug 23, GNA – Togbui Adzesi Dzaga VI, Dufiaga of Awudome-Avenui, has appealed to the government to complete the abandoned Community-based Health Planning and Services compound.

He said the abandonment of the facility during the last five years had a significant detrimental impact on the community’s healthcare delivery services.

Togbe Adzesi, who is also a Senior Divisional Chief of Awudome Traditional Area, made the appeal in an interview with the Ghana News Agency.

The Senior Divisional Chief stated that the community was concerned about the lack of a suitable health facility.

He disclosed that the former post-office building was currently being used by the community as a CHPS compound, which was not ideal for providing efficient and high-quality healthcare.

Togbe Adzesi said the current facility was also not spacious and conducive to house patients who visited the facility daily, thus the appeal for urgent completion of the abandoned facility.

He also lamented the lack of accommodation for the health professionals working at the current facility and said the situation compelled most of them to live in surrounding towns.

The Senior Divisional Chief said this made it difficult for the health officials to respond to emergency cases at night.
