Accra, Oct. 23, GNA – The youth of Dodowa have called on their chiefs, elders and the people of Shai to see peace and unity as a catalyst for Socio-economic development.
They said as a district capital, the town beamed with resources and opportunities like arable lands for agriculture and industrialisation, tourism potentials like the Dodowa Forest and Kyenku Water Falls but unity to harness these potentials had become a mirage.
Madam Emelia Narh, a Human Resource Professional, in a speech said: “There’s much work to be done and we must remain committed to the sustainable development of our area. Unity is the blood of our community. Our strength is in our ability to stand together and face the challenges that come our way.”
She said this on behalf of the youth at the grand durbar of the 2023 Ngmayem festival of the Chiefs and people of Dodowa which drew important personalities including Nana Konadu Yiadom Kumadin IV, Representative of Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and Obrempong Hima Bekyi XIV, Paramount Chief of Upper Dixcove Traditional Area in the Western.
Madam Narh said unity did not mean there would be no differences rather, it meant celebrating their diversity and sustaining their shared value and goals.
She said peace had become the cornerstone upon which their community thrived and the foundation for development and unity.
“We must resolve to protect this peace at all costs. Our ancestors did so and it is our duty to honour their legacy by working towards a brighter future for our children and generations to come,” she said.
Madam Narh said the festival should be a reminder of their shared vision and collective effort to transform the society into a prosperous one.
