Accra, July 27, GNA – A Marketer, who was not able to account for GHS150,295.00, belonging to Africa Zone Company Limited, has been granted bail by an Accra Circuit Court.
The accused person is said to have used the money to take care of his sick mother and also bought land out of the money.
Mr Maxwell Obidieh, 42, was charged with stealing.
He pleaded not guilty.
The Court presided over by Mrs Adelaide Abui Keddey, admitted the accused person to bail in the sum of GHS150,000.00 with two sureties.
The case has been adjourned to September 7, 2022, for Case Management Conference (CMC).
Police Chief Inspector Maxwell Ayim, prosecuting, told the court that the complainant was a manager at Africa Zone Company Limited and resided at Osu, whilst the accused person was the marketer in the same company and a resident of Dome.
Africa Zone Company Limited is into the supply of Rice, Oil, and other food products, where the duty of the accused person was to supply the products to market women and collect cash.
The prosecution said in February and March 2022, the complainant gave assorted products to the accused person and supplied same to their customers at Okaishie, Agbogbloshie and CMB respectively.
On April 12, 2022, the accused person was invited to their office to render an account but could not account for the said amount.
Chief Inspector Ayim said a complaint was lodged at Osu police Station, which led to the arrest of the accused person.
During investigation, the accused person informed the police that, he used some of the money to take care of his sick mother and also bought land.
