Berlin, Mar. 27, (dpa/GNA) - Ukrainian forces have managed to drive Russian troops out of the city of Trostyanets in the Sumy region of northeastern Ukraine, according to several Ukrainian media outlets.
The retreating Russian forces reportedly left weapons, ammunition and other equipment in their hurried withdrawal on Saturday, Ukrainian media outlets wrote, citing information provided by the 93rd Brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces.
Earlier in the day, the Ukrainian military had reported fighting in the town. The information could not be independently verified, however.
The Sumy region has been under attack since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine over four weeks ago and has seen some of the fiercest fightings in the country.
