Rotary Club of Kumasi-East donates to Ashanti School for the Deaf

Jamasi (Ash), Feb.10, GNA – The Rotary Club of Kumasi-East has donated quantities of food and learning items to pupils of Ashanti School for the Deaf to cater for their immediate needs.

The items, which cost a little over GH₵15,000.00, included 20 bags of rice, five gallons of cooking oil, bags of sugar and 1,000 copies of branded exercise books.

Nana Kofi Ayesu-Boahene, President of the Club, presenting the items at a short ceremony at Jamasi in the Sekyere South District of Ashanti, said the donation formed part of activities to mark the Club’s 32nd anniversary celebrations.

He said the Club would also construct a bore hole and provide furniture for teachers and pupils of the school by the end of June this year.

The President noted that the school had been on their radar and pledged that the club would do more to ensure the purpose of the pupils on campus was fulfilled.

The Club had embarked over the years on several projects in education, health sanitation among others, to bring change to the underprivileged in the society.

Nana Ayesu-Boahene noted that the Club would continue to extend charitable works to deprived communities to help improve the living conditions of the people there.

Madam Vida Aidoo, Headmistress of the School, expressed appreciation to the Club for the gesture and pledged to use the items for their intended purposes.

She said Rotary Clubs in Ghana had continually reached out to them with support and was expecting more assistance from the club to help address some pertinent needs.

She called on other benevolent institutions to come to the aid of the school to renovate some old structures, adding that, the school had not been reconditioned since its inception.

Madam Aidoo used the occasion to call on parents and guardians in the middle belt of Ghana to enroll their children in the newly established blind school on the school’s premises.
