Rent fraudster: 15 victims lodge official complaints at Kasoa

Kasoa (C/R), Feb. 08, GNA – The Kasoa District Police Command on Tuesday said, 15 victims have so far lodged official complaints against Rafael Kle, 32, after his arrest last Friday, February 4, for defrauding a number of people on some popular e-commerce platforms.

Chief Superintendent Timothy Dassah, the District Commander, told the Ghana News Agency that the accused who has about 30 cases pending, allegedly took monies ranging from GH¢1,500 to GH¢3,000 as rent from the victims.

Kle’s modus operandi was renting out homes to his victims using online marketing platforms and disappearing with their monies afterwards.

The police mounted a surveillance on him based on reports it received and he was arrested and arraigned before Ofaakor Circuit Court in Kasoa on Friday but his plea was not taken and has been remanded into police custody to reappear on Friday, February 18, 2022.

Chief Superintendent Timothy Dassah said investigations were ongoing and urged people who have been defrauded through such means to report it.
