Man, 42, on bail over gun display

Accra, Feb. 4, GNA – An Accra Circuit Court has, on Friday, granted a GH₵50,000.00 bail with two sureties to a 42-year-old man for allegedly displaying arms and ammunition in a public place without authority.

Nii Ofori Quaye Sabah, alias “Kocha”, has denied displaying and firing a Ruger 9mm gun on social media.

He will make his next appearance on February 9, 2022.

Police Chief Inspector Eric Pobee told the court presided over by Mr Emmanuel Essandoh that, the accused person was a tailor.

The prosecution said in 2019, the accused person went to a birthday party at Ningo-Prampram and was captured on social media displaying and firing warning shots with the video of the incident going viral on Facebook and WhatsApp.

It said on February 2,2022, the Police acting on intelligence arrested the accused person, and handed him over to the Regional Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Accra for investigations.

The prosecution said the accused person admitted the offence in his investigation caution statement.

Police Chief Inspector Pobee said after investigation, the accused person was charged with the offence and arraigned.
