Accra, Feb.16, GNA–The Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Mr Samuel Abu Jinapor has made a personal contribution of GHc20,000 to the Appiatse Support Fund towards the reconstruction of the community razed by an explosion on January 20.
He commended those who had contributed to the Fund so far, particularly President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for leading the charge.
He encouraged all well-meaning Ghanaians, home and abroad, to contribute to the Fund in a hashtag”#Obiatua bi”.
“I must commend the Committee for the excellent national service to the nation. They’ve done a good job so far,” Mr Jinapor said.
Dr. Joyce Rosaline Aryee, the Chairperson of the Appiatse Support Fund Committee, in her remarks, said the Minister had shown exemplary leadership and called on other ministers to follow his steps.
She announced that the President who made a pledge of GHC100,000 to the Fund had redeemed it, stressing that “the money has hit our account and we are grateful”
She gave assurance of the Committee’s commitment to ensuring transparency, saying; “There is no scam and there will be no scam in the collection and disbursement of the funds. This will be done as transparently as possible to cross out any questions and cynicism.”
The Committee’s Chairperson also encouraged the media to continue informing the public about the collection process so that more people would contribute towards it.
Meanwhile, the Chinese Embassy in Ghana had also presented a cheque for GHC50,000 to the Fund.
It has, thus becomes the first Embassy in Ghana to contribute towards the Fund.
