Accra, Feb. 10, GNA – The Black Stars of Ghana have dropped nine places in the latest Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) ranking after their disastrous outing at the just ended Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.
Ghana in the previous world ranking released on December 23, 2021 was 52nd in the world, but has now dropped to the 61st position in the latest released on February 10, 2022.
On the African continent the Black Stars have dropped out of the top 10 teams, as they are now placed 11th after previously occupying the eighth position.
Reigning African Champions Senegal maintained the top spot followed by Morocco, Nigeria, Egypt and Tunisia who made the top five respectively.
This comes after Black Stars poor outing at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations where they failed to make it out from the group which had the likes of Comoros, Gabon and Morocco.
The Black Stars would be aiming to improve on their rankings when the Super Eagles of Nigeria in the double-header of the 2022 World Cup playoffs scheduled later in March.
