Tema, Feb. 8, GNA—This year’s O.A. Special Open Golf Championship tee-off at the Centre of the World Golf Course at Tema on Saturday, February 12.
Mr. Kwadwo Antwi Boateng, General Manager of the Centre of the World Golf Club who disclosed this to the Ghana News Agency in interview at Tema on Monday, said the one-day event was being sponsored by Mr Felix Owusu-Adjapong, a former Minister of State and one-time President of the club.
He said about 100 amateur and professional golfers throughout the country were expected to participate in the event to commemorate the birthday of Mr Owusu-Adjapong, which falls on February 13.
Mr. Boateng said everything possible was being done to ensure that the course was playable for the stable-ford competition.
He said the competition would also be played in accordance with the rules of the Royal Golf, the World’s Golf governing body and the rules of the Centre of the World Golf Club.
Mr. Boateng named some of the golfers expected to be seen in action as Eric Ofosuhene, Jimmie Thorne, Tony Mintah, Paul Owusu-Baah and Francis Bannerman.
The Ladies section would also see crack golfers as Mona Myles-Lamptey, Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong, Helen Appah and Catherine Fabbi.
There would be prizes for both the Men and the Ladies categories as well as consolation prizes for ‘The Longest Drive’ and ‘The Nearest to the Pin’.
