Western Region has 263 active COVID-19 cases

Takoradi, Dec. 29, GNA – The Western Region has recorded 17 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 23 new suspected cases of the disease as of Tuesday, December 28, 2021.

Fourteen of the cases are from the Ellembele District, while the other three are from the Effia Kwansimintsim Municipality and were detected through routine surveillance.

These were contained in a released issued and signed by the Regional Health Director, Dr Yaw Ofori Yeboah, and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA).

The Region before the Christmas festivities had only two COVID-19 active cases but currently has 263 active cases from ten Districts with 56 of them being health workers.

According to the statement, the Region has cumulatively recorded 7,817 confirmed cases with 73 deaths.

It said 810 health workers had so far contracted the COVID-19 disease in the Region with two deaths.
