Accra, Nov. 6, GNA – Mr Joseph Amarh Amartey, Executive Director of Tourism Society of Ghana (TOSOGHA) has been appointed as the African Youth President for African Chamber of Trade and Commerce (ACTC) effective November 1 2021.
A news release issued to the Ghana News Agency, said Mr Amartey, who is also the Youth Tourism Ambassador for Ghana has been recognized for his active role in championing the course of young people in tourism, in Ghana.
It said his appointment as the African youth leader, required him to pursue the African Union agenda 2063, which was aimed at providing inclusive social and sustainable economic development of Africa through the Pan-Africanism drive for unity.
“The agenda is to fast-track the repositioning of Africa to become a dominant player in the global arena for peace, economic and social growth and political unity, and to achieve this agenda, the youth of Africa must be fully engaged and empowered specially at the entrepreneurial front pursuant to the economic and social liberation of the African people.”
The release stated that his duties as the African youth leader for entrepreneurial welfare would include; coordinating programmes and activities of the African youth entrepreneurial welfare, establishing national youth entrepreneurial welfare board or committees in all African states, organizing annual African youth entrepreneurship engagement conferences pursuant to the AU agenda 2063.
“Mr Amartey would also constitute and appoint relevant standing committees of youth entrepreneurship programmes across Africa, and present timely periodic reports on activities to the ACTC.
It said as the youth leader, he would also be required to bring on board his expertise in tourism, arts and culture along with his diplomatic, social and political connections to develop entrepreneurship programmes and engage the youth across Africa and perform other duties assigned by the ACTC.
“He will be required to identify and craft projects to facilitate youth employment through entrepreneurship in conformity with the AfCFTA rules.”
TOSOGHA is a non-governmental organization that operates under the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and Ghana Tourism Authority.
It operates in collaboration with Ghana Education Service (GES) to establish tourism clubs with educational establishments across Ghana and to promote domestic tourism from the grassroots.
It also has an official partnership with the Ghana Police Service to create more awareness on issues of domestic violence and child-related offences.
