Sefwi Bekwai (WN/R), July 5, GNA – The Member of Parliament (MP) for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai Constituency, Mr Alfred Obeng Boateng, has commissioned four mechanized boreholes for some communities within the Municipality.
The four commissioned boreholes are part of the 25 mechanized water projects to be drilled by the MP for the constituents within four years.
The beneficiary communities are Subri Nkwanta, Asawianso ‘A’, Nyetina and Sefwi Ampenkrom.
In all, the MP has so far commissioned eight water projects in the Constituency.
The move, according to the Member of Parliament, was in fulfilment of his campaign promise to provide potable water for the communities in the Constituency.
At separate ceremonies to hand over the water project to the community members, the MP thanked the constituents for offering him the mandate to represent them in Parliament for the next four years.
Mr Obeng-Boateng asked the inhabitants not to only focused on cocoa production, which is the major cash crop in the Constituency since it only earned them yearly income.
He advised them to turn their attention to other crops such as cassava and rubber plantation, which could serve as a monthly income to complement the cocoa production.
The Chief of Sefwi Asawianso ‘A’, Nana Kwadwo Boafo l, commended the MP for his efforts to provide them with potable water and pledged to ensure regular maintenance of the facility.
He pleaded with the government to construct the feeder roads in the area, particularly the road from Asawianso junction to Mmrewa-Nkronua, stressing that the bad nature of roads was hampering the efforts of farmers since they were unable to transport their farm produce to market centres.
Nana Boafo also appealed to the government to upgrade the only clinic in the area into a hospital so as to avoid traveling from afar to access health care.
At Subri-Nkwanta, Nana Kofi Affi lll, the chief of the area, who is also the manwerehene for Sefwi Anhwiaso Traditional Area, praised the MP for redeeming his campaign promises.
