Accra, May 29, GNA – The leadership of the Lands Commission has signed a Book of Condolence for the late Osu Mantse, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, at the Palace at Osu in Accra.
The Osu King, known in private life as Michael Dowuona-Owoo, was born on November 7, 1963 and passed on February 6, 2021, after a short illness. He was 57 years.
He was enstooled in 2007 and elected President of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs in 2016.
He was re-elected in 2020 after serving a successful four-year term.
The late Paramount Chief was a software engineer and commercial farmer.
The delegation from the Lands Commission was led by Mr Stephen Ayesu Ntim, the National Chairman, and accompanied by Mr Alex Quaynor, the Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Alhaji Suleman Mahama, the Executive Secretary of the Commission, and Deputy Executive Secretary for Corporate Services, Mr Jones Ofori-Boadu.
Also among the delegation were the divisional heads and representatives from the Administrator of Stool Lands.
They commiserated with the bereaved family and pledged their support for befitting and successful funeral rites for the King.
Mr Alex Quaynor, a Lawyer and Spokesperson of the delegation, told the Linguist, Nii Adumuah, who welcomed them to the Palace, that the team was there to console the bereaved family and support them emotionally, physically and financially.
Mr Quaynor recounted the invaluable contributions the late Osu King made towards the welfare of his people and development of mother Ghana in general.
Mr Stephen Ayesu Ntim, the National Chairman of the Commission, described the Osu Mantse as a very industrious person and forthright with issues, who never compromised his work.
The Commission made a presentation to the bereaved family and assured of its readiness to support them for successful funeral rites for the late traditional leader.
The Linguist, on behalf of the family, expressed his gratitude to the Commission for the gesture.
He pledged to formally inform the Commission of the date set for the funeral rites.
