Development committee in Akim Oda visits schools

Akim Oda (E/R) April 27, GNA – Institutional and Publics Relations Committee formed by Mr Alexander Akwasi Acquah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Akim Oda Constituency, has called on schools in the constituency to acquaint themselves with challenges facing them.

The committee which is an initiative of the lawmaker seeks to help him touch base regularly with the grassroots for effective decision-making and implementation of development programmes.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency, Mr Castro Asumadu Addae, Chairman of the Committee, said to fast track development in the area, the committee deemed it necessary to familiarise themselves with challenges confronting educational institutions for redress.

Members of the committee led by their chairman together with the MP and Mr Frank Nkansah, Secretary to the Committee visited the Community Health Nurses Training School at Oda, Methodist College of Education, Oda Senior High School, Attafuah Senior High Technical School, and St. Francis Senior High Technical School.

Mr Addae said the prime indications from the various schools were that most of the institutions lacked furniture, classroom blocks, assembly halls, dormitories and Information Communication Technology (ICT) laboratories.

At Methodist College of Education and St. Francis Senior High Technical School, the MP presented 10 street light bulbs each to the schools to help beef up security during nights.

Madam Philomena Rosina Boateng, Headmistress of Oda Senior High School, was happy for the visit and expressed the hope that the MP and members of the committee would be able to address challenges facing the school.

Mr Acquah assured authorities of the schools visited that he would do his best to lobby for their needs and help improve their living conditions.
