Kenyase (Ash), March 22, GNA – University students have been urged to create positive networks and forge sustainable bonds that will help transform their future lives.
Professor Edward Kwame Asante, President of the Garden City University College (GCUC) at Kenyase in the Kwabre East District, who made the call, said education was not just about reading to pass examinations and score good grades.
It is also about learning new things and creating positive and sustainable relationships that would shape and help transform the future of the individual.
Prof. Asante made the call at the 15th matriculation ceremony of the University at Kenyase, where a total of 1,880 students were admitted to pursue various programmes of study.
He said the 2021 admissions were the highest of the University since its inception in 2005 and attributed it to the admission of the students in two batches in August 2020 and January 2021.
Prof. Asante said as part of measures to improve on its online teaching and learning to reduce the face to face interaction method due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, the University had set up the Centre for Open Distance and e-Learning, to provide alternatives and innovative opportunities to complement the face to face mode of learning.
This, according to him had enabled the University to open new learning centres in Wa, Tamale and Takoradi.
He stressed the need for all Ghanaians to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 preventive measures to help curtail the spread of the virus to bring life to normalcy.
Prof. Asante said the University had put in place the necessary measures to prevent the outbreak of the virus on campus and called on the students to obey all the protocols and take their studies seriously.
