Mallam Tijani Koforidua Foundation receives support towards a library project

Koforidua, March 22, GNA – Alhaji Abdul Razak, a philantropist has donated GHC10,000, two trips of sand, two trips of stone chippings and a quantity of quarry dust towards the construction of a community library at Koforidua-Zongo in the New Juaben South municipality.

The community Library is being undertaken by the ‘Mallam Tijani Koforidua Foundation’ to provide a convenient place of studies after school hours and on weekends for schoolchildren living in the area to improve on education.

He made the donation at the inauguration of a 21-member board of trustees towards the completion of the community library, a project started by the late Sheikh Ahmad Tijani Abdul Rahman (Mallam Tijani) before his demise.

Alhaji Abdul Razak who is the Board Chairman of the Foundation urged the trustees to work with commitment to ensure that the Library project would be completed to serve the intended purpose and honour the memory of Mallam Tijani.

He lauded the late Mallam Tijani for his vision towards education in the Zongo community, when he was alive and assured that his vision to raise standards of education in the area would be pursued.

Mr Nurudeen Alhassan, President of the foundation and a son of the late Mallam Tijani, who received the donations explained that students after school had nowhere to study and so used the mosque in the community as their learning centre.

He said the late Mallam Tijani therefore decided to build a library in the community to serve that purpose, unfortunately he could not live to witness the dream come true and thanked all those who had supported the project so far.
