Anfoeta Traditional Area celebrates women on IWD

Anfoeta Tsebi (V/R), March 09, GNA – Women in the Anfoeta Traditional Area have been celebrated and empowered as part of the 2021 International Women’s Day (IWD) celebrations worldwide.

Mama Dei III, Queen Mother of Anfoeta-Tokorme, said “without women nothing can happen”.

She said the purpose of the celebration was to empower women, adding that women were embedded with skills and it is important to show them that they could do better with those skills than they were working with.

Quantum Ideas Ghana in collaboration with Ceciyaa Foundation and Anfoeta Traditional Council organised the programme with sponsorship from HUSH No More.

Madam Anne Ethel Komlaga, Executive Director, Quantum Ideas Ghana, said the event in line with the theme for the worldwide celebrations was to celebrate the tremendous efforts of women and girls in shaping a more equal future and a recovery from COVID-19 world.

She said the occasion was also to identify and recognise achievements of women in the community.

“We are also here to raise awareness on gender equality issues to accelerate gender parity and also to educate and train in an all encompassingly, the girl child to become responsible adults.”

Madam Komlaga said the event would educate and create awareness on the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on women especially in their responsive duties.

She urged the women to be disciplined, have self-control and put their potentials into use to become determined women.

The occasion was on the theme: “I’m a Woman, I’m Determined”.

Dr Vannesa Dunn Guyton, Executive Director of HUSH No More, encouraged young girls to build their confidence level and be able to overcome any form of abuse.

She said women who were victims of abuses should be able to get the strength, forgive themselves and move on with their lives.

The Director advised girls to be able to talk to their confidants when they felt any form of abuse as well as share their experiences with others to be able to learn.

Togbe Kwasi Drah VII, Paramount Chief of Anfoeta, commended the organisers for the programme, adding that, “I see this as a project which has come to stay”.
