Sefwi-waiwso (W/N), Jan 16, GNA – Dr Emmanuel Carsamer, Principal for Waiwso College of Education (WATICO) has assured students, parents and the public that the college has put in place adequate measures to ensure the safety of students who reported on the college campus to begin the 2020/2021 academic year.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), Dr Carsamer said the school management have put Veronica buckets filled with water, soap and tissue paper at vantage points of the college to ensure tutors, students and visitors washed their hands before entering the college premises.
He also disclosed that the College through the Ghana Education Service has provided each student with three nose masks and a hand sanitizer to all students on campus.
The principal said the college had completed new dormitories to ease congestion of students at the dormitory and also reduced the number of students in a lecture hall from 50 to 25 students in order to ensure physical and social distancing.
“Tutors have been instructed not to allow students without nosemasks to sit in for lectures and students will be punished for failing to wear nose mask after cautioning”.
Dr Carsamer announced that the college admitted 560 new students this year with 782 continuing students.
“In view of the reductions in class size, the college management have engaged part time lectures who would be paid from the college internally generated fund (IGF) and credit hours has also increased from 12 to 15 credit hours” Dr carsamer stated.
The principal advised students to take their studies seriously and adhere to all COVID-19 protocols.
He commended the Alumni of the college for their immense contribution towards the development of the college and asked them to continue supporting the college when the need arises.
He hinted that the Alumni have resolved to come out with a Momo number to ensure old students contribute towards the development of the college and appealed to them to support the initiative when it was duly launched.
