Retired police officers outdoor two-star hotel

Accra, Oct. 30, GNA – The National Association of Retired Police Officers (NARPO), has out-doored a a-two-star Hotel at Achimota Mile 7 in the Greater Accra Region.

The GHC15-million hotel, funded by the Association members, serving officers and Police Administration, has an office complex and a conference room.

Mr Ambrose Derry, Minister for the Interior, who commissioned the hotel, said it would help boost the welfare of officers as an income-generating venture and boost tourism.

He commended the Association for the foresight and said the Government was supporting the Service to ensure peaceful, transparent, and credible elections on December 7, 2020.

Inspector-General of Police (rtd), Nana Owusu Nsiah, Chairman for the occasion, said a decent office accommodation had been established by the Police Administration for the Retired Officers in Accra and underscored the role of retired police officers in modern policing.

“The role of the Retired Police Officers in modern Policing is indispensable, collectively the Retired Officers will be considered as a special intelligence unit that can provide the Police with relevant information. Members of the Association are also endowed with enormous resources in terms of experience…,” he said.

Mr Nsiah called on the Police Service for financial and logistical support.

The IGP, Mr James Oppong-Boanuh, Members of the Police Management Board, Police Council, serving officers, traditional leaders, and commanders of other security services were at the event.
