Covid-19: NCCE takes education to Ankonom community

Ankonom (Ash), June 26, GNA – The Offinso North District Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has stepped up public education on the coronavirus pandemic with a call on the citizenry to strictly observe all safety protocols.

They should desist from all activities that could expose them to the deadly virus to help stop community spread.

Ms. Rosina Owoo, the District Director of the Commission in an interaction with the people of Ankonom, a farming community in the District, implored them to take precautionary measures serious in their interest.

She said though the fight against the pandemic was a collective responsibility of all Ghanaians, precaution at the individual level would inure to the benefit of the entire population.

The recklessness of most people towards the disease despite the havoc it is causing across the globe, she noted, was disheartening and urged the people to prioritize their health by adhering to recommended safety protocols.

“Let us all observe the precautionary measure to stay safe from the virus which has already claimed many lives and continue to pose a serious risk to our health”, she entreated the people.

The District Director also spoke against stigmatizing COVID-19 patients and their relatives even after recovery, saying that, “such people deserve our love rather than persecution”.

She said there was nothing shameful about the disease and stressed the need to support infected persons since everybody could be infected.
