Accra, May 15, GNA – The Golden Club Charity, a non-profit organisation based in London, has inaugurated two staff washrooms at the Accra Psychiatric Hospital at a cost of GH¢14,000.00.
The construction of the washrooms is the first of many interventions promised by the Golden Club Charity after it formally adopted Ward B of the Hospital.
The adoption was facilitated by BESSTEL Foundation, a non-profit organisation focused on advocating for better mental healthcare policy and supporting its development in Ghana.
Mr George Bessa Simons, the Country Coordinator of BESSTEL Foundation, who represented the Chairman of the Golden Club Charity London, Nana Osei Kwame Kotoko, said the group desired to bring more development to Ward B, which it had adopted.
He said the Club undertook the construction to end the era where nurses had to move from ward to ward to make themselves comfortable “because this is the time we need to limit movement as much as possible.”
Dr Susan Seffah, the Public Relations Officer of the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, receiving the keys to the washrooms, expressed appreciation to the Golden Club Charity for adopting the Ward and fulfilling its promise to construct the staff washrooms.
She said the Hospital would maintain the facility diligently to maximise its value adding; “We are going to take care of it so that anytime you walk into the facility, you will find it the way you gave it to us.”
“Just as you have said that you will continue to upgrade the Ward, we look up to that and we know that you are going to do it for the Accra Psychiatric Hospital”.
She outlined some other needs of the Ward and called on the group to assist in meeting those needs, which included beds for patients and the need to partition to enhance private treatment of patients.
