Ho, May 28, GNA – Apostle Senyo Mawufemor Cudjoe, General Overseer, Fountain of Life Chapel, has called on Christian denominations to support the needy and the vulnerable during this Coronavirus pandemic.
He said churches enjoyed the devotion of faith bearers who also contributed to their storehouses, and that the contributions must not be hoarded, but made available for use at such times of dire need.
Apostle Cudjoe made the call when elders of the Church reached out to the aged and differently abled in the Ho Municipality and the Central Tongu District of the Volta Region with some food items in the wake of the pandemic.
“This time is not the time to be asking for offering, giving momo accounts and whatever, asking for tithes. It’s rather a time for us to open the storehouse of God, when we have all the time told them to bring their tithes to, so that it will serve as food. It is that time to open the storehouses for the needy, especially those in rural communities where life is unbearable,” he said.
The Church supported a total of 350 individuals during the exercise, made possible through collaboration with the Bible Discipleship and Growth Ministry (BDGM) and their donors in Europe and America.
Apostle Cudjoe said the Church had committed to providing physical and spiritual care to both members and non-members as the lockdown affected livelihoods.
“We are giving them hope at this time that they should look for the Lord in the storm. He is still the Master and He is in control,” he said.
Apostle Senyo said the over 90 households that made up the Church’s congregation were already benefiting from periodic support, which included ministrations of the Gospel.
Mr Lawrence Attipoe, the Youth Supervisor, said the Church, during the lockdown called on members in their homes to familiarize with their conditions and also shared the Gospel.
Madam Elizabeth Dzifa Adenyeku, Assistant Youth Supervisor, said the Disciples of Christ offered relief to many as they went about preaching the good news of God, and that churches must make such deeds a priority.
Fountain of Life Chapel has been educating rural communities on hygienic practices against the spread of the Coronavirus, and also given out over 170 hand washing stations and facemasks.
