Cape Coast, April 22, GNA – The St. Paul Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Cape Coast, has donated assorted items to three institutions in the Cape Coast Metropolis to assist in the fight against the novel Coronavirus pandemic.
The items included boxes of carbolic soaps, gallons of liquid soap and hand sanitizers as well as bundles of tissues worth over GHC5,000.00
The benefiting institutions were the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital, the Awim Polyclinic and the Ankaful Maximum Prisons.
The Reverend Benjamin Ofori Twum, the second Minister in Charge of the St. Paul Congregation who presented the items, said the gesture was the church’s little contribution to the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
“As an established Church in the Metropolis, we must fulfil our social responsibility to help our health workers to do their work well and help fight the coronavirus,” he said.
He expressed the hope that the items would go a long way to boost the confidence of the health workers to continue to offer the needed help to those who visited the facilities for treatment.
“For our front line health workers, we appreciate them and we are very grateful that they have put their lives on the line trying to save the entire nation,” he said.
Rev. Twum encouraged the health workers to continue to give off their best, while assuring them of spiritual support and prayers from the church to be able to overcome the situation.
He also commended the government for the prudent measures put in to curb the pandemic.
Madam Grace Yeboah, Nurse Manager at the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital, expressed gratitude to the Presbyterian Church and said the donation came at the right time to support them to deliver quality services.
She called on other benevolent organisations and individuals to assist health institutions with the needed logistics in this trying times.
