Covid-19: Hohoe Municipal Hospital, others receive support from Amewu

Hohoe (V/R), April 03, GNA – Mr. John Peter Amewu, Minister for Energy and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Hohoe Constituency has presented items to the Hohoe Municipal Hospital towards the fight against the novel coronavirus disease.

He also made similar donations to the Hohoe Council of Queens and the Okada Riders Association of Hohoe.

Mr. Joseph Homenya, NPP Volta Regional Secretary on behalf of the Parliamentary Candidate presented five boxes of liquid soap, five boxes of hand sanitizers, seven veronica buckets with stands, tissues and dustbins, five boxes of soap and two packs of toilet rolls to the Hospital.

He said the donation was part of efforts by Mr. Amewu to support health facilities, groups and essential service providers in the Municipality to stop the spread of the disease.

Mr. Homenya said the Minister was mobilizing to further support the Hospital with other logistics to enable it adequately deal with any COVID19 related issues, while commending the Hospital for measures put in place to curb the spread of the coronavirus.

Dr. Pius Mensah, the Medical Superintendent of Hohoe Municipal Hospital and Acting Hohoe Municipal Director of Health Services who received the items expressed gratitude to Mr Amewu adding that the items would be put to good use.

He said the items were key to ensuring and maintaining good hygiene among hospital staff to prevent spread of the disease.

The Medical Superintendent said the Hospital was in need of non-contact infrared thermometers (gun thermometer) and N95 Respirators to enable the Hospital handle suspected cases efficiently.

Dr. Mensah said the case management centre would need to be equipped with medical logistics after its refurbishment to enable the Hospital in treating confirmed cases adding that management and staff of the Hospital would do everything possible to make Hohoe safe.
Mama Dzitri II, Vice President of the Hohoe Municipal Council of Queens who received 33 boxes of branded ‘carbolic’ soap and 33 pieces of hand sanitizers expressed gratitude to the Energy Minister for his support.

Mr Nathaniel Kove, Chairman of Hohoe Association of Okada Riders received eight veronica buckets with stands, hand sanitizers, tissue papers, buckets and dustbins from Mr John Peter Amewu.

He expressed gratitude to the Minister on behalf of the Association made up of 15 various groups for his support.

Mr Kove said the members of the Association were adhering to precautionary measures especially social distancing, while they continued to educate each other on the virus.
