Sunyani, (Bono), Dec. 13, GNA – The G2 Foundation, a women-centered Non-governmental organisation has congratulated the Vice-President-elect, Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang for her position as the first female Vice President in the political history of the nation.

In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani, Mrs Gifty Nyarko, the Chief Executive Officer of the foundation called on the Veep-elect to lead the implementation of the proposed Women’s Bank establishment, as contained in the National Democratic Congress Election 2024 political party manifesto.

She said her NGO worked to improve the welfare of women, orphans, widows, and other vulnerable and minority groups in the society, saying with the establishment of the Bank, more women traders could access financial support to expand their businesses and live decent lives.

She said the Women Bank economy policy of the NDC was laudable and in the right direction, saying operations of such a bank would strengthen female driven enterprises in the country.

Mrs Nyarko said many employees in the informal sector were women who needed economic support and empowerment to sustain their livelihoods and that of their families.

“So, the Women Bank initiative will greatly help create more jobs for women and improve their livelihoods,” she stated.

In another interview, Madam Yaa Asuama, an owner of a Grocery Shop also congratulated the Veep-elect for honouring women and motherhood and inspired her to do more to alleviate the plight of women in the country.

“We need the women’s bank to easily access soft loans to build on our economic activities and create more jobs for others too,” she stated.

Ms Vida Tetteh, a petty trader at Odumase in the Sunyani West Municipality, also called for urgent need for the NDC government to establish the bank.
