AWLN Ghana ccongratulates Professor Naana Jane Opoku- Agyemang and elected female parliamentarians

Accra, Dec 11, GNA – The African Women Leaders Network Ghana Chapter, has extended a hearty congratulations to Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang on her historic win as Ghana’s first female Vice President-elect.

“This is a monumental milestone, not just for women in Ghana, but for the entire nation, your victory is an inspiration to women and girls across Ghana, showing them that they too can

break barriers and achieve greatness, we celebrate your win and look forward to the positive change you will bring to Ghana”.

The AWLN Ghana chapter, in a statement signed by Dr Charity Binka, president and copied the GNA, noted that her unprecedented achievement in the history of Ghana wass a testament to dedication, perseverance, and leadership.

As a renowned academic and first female vice chancellor of the University of Cape Coast, Prof Opoku-Agyemang’s recent achievement had moved the bar even higher and “AWLN Ghana believes that you have an even greater platform to champion inclusivity, women’s empowerment, and progress for all Ghanaians”.

Describing her feat as an elevation, AWLN said a powerful message had been sent to women and girls across Ghana that with determination and hard work women could break barriers, inspiring them to pursue their dreams and strive for leadership.

Whiles highly commending Mr John Mahama president-elect, for showing commitment to women’s leadership and choosing a female as his running mate for the second time, “AWLN expects that this forward-thinking decision will translate into inclusion of at least 30% women in the management of the new government”.

The Network has also congratulated the newly elected female parliamentarians for putting up a good fight as well as the only female presidential candidate Nana Akosua Sarpong adding that even though she lost, she had set a standard for others.

To the many other female parliamentary candidates who lost, “We are proud of the courage and resilience they showed throughout the campaign and urge them not to give up”.
