Accra, Dec 11, GNA – Dr Dzabaku Kudiabor Ocansey, Executive Director/Founder, Center for National Interest and Research and the Centenary Agenda Secretariat, Ghana, has congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his “massive endorsement” as the President of Ghana.
A statement issued by Dr Ocansey, copied to the Ghana News Agency, said President-elect Mahama’s impressive victory was a testament to the desire of Ghanaians for a positive change in governance.
“We are thrilled to see President-elect Mahama emerge victorious in this electron. His leadership will undoubtedly bring about positive change and progress to our great nation,” said Dr Ocansey.
He said the Center for National Interest and Research and the Centenary Agenda Secretariat, Ghana, looked forward to working with President-elect Mahama to enhance the lots of the citizenry.
The Organisation said it would work with the government to protect and add value to natural resources and the country’s rich multi-culture virtues, cherished values, heritage, and traditions.
It said it would also work to promote inclusive social, economic, and political development and build collaborative relationships among stakeholders to drive national development.
The Organisation said its work with the government would also empower marginalised communities through targeted initiatives and policies.
Dr Ocansey said through research, education, and advocacy, the Organisation would help the country to work towards achieving Sustainable Development Goals and urged the President-elect to demonstrate selfless and human-centered governance, and build strong institutions that prioritised national interests over extreme partisan politics of divisiveness.
“We expect President-elect Mahama to address past shortcomings and prioritise institutional reforms, economic development, and social cohesion.
“Furthermore, we emphasise that President-elect Mahama’s focus must be on the national interest beyond extreme partisan politics.”
Dr Ocansey said President-elect Mahama should draw significant lessons from the shortcomings of the immediate past government to create a better future for Ghana.
He said with the President-elect’s resounding victory and the support of over two-thirds of the Members of Parliament, he had a unique opportunity to build a promising new Ghana that guaranteed a bright future for the next generation.
“We firmly believe that the wealth of Ghana, when well-mobilised and fairly distributed into production areas of the economy rather than just consumption, will transform Ghana into a first-world status within a stipulated time,” he said.
Dr Ocansey said that could be achieved within the “Centenary Agenda” period, ensuring a prosperous future for generations to come.
