Dambai (O/R), Nov 22, GNA – The Krachi East Municipal Directorate of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has organised a dialogue for candidates contesting for the parliamentary seat of the constituency in collaboration with the Local Council of Churches.
The event, which sought to provide a platform for the candidates to outline their vision to bring development to the people, was only attended by Mr. Michael Yaw Gyato, the NPP parliamentary candidate.
Mr. Clement Kwasi Mamadu, the Krachi East Municipal Director of NCCE, has appealed to political parties to prioritise peace during their campaigns as Ghana prepares for the 2024 general elections.
He emphasised the importance of safeguarding Ghana’s long-standing peace and ability, cautioning that the future generations will judge the nation harshly if it fails to preserve harmony, a hallmark of Ghanaian society.
Mr. Robert Boame, Oti Regional Director of NCCE used the opportunity to inform the participants that the parliamentary dialogue forms part of a nationwide initiative by the NCCE to promote issue-based campaigns to ensure peaceful elections.
With political tensions often high during election seasons, Mr. Boame said the efforts aim to remind all stakeholders of their collective responsibility to uphold Ghana’s democracy and peace.
Reverend John Pangmoot, Chairperson of Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) and Chairman of Local Council of Churches highlighted efforts to promote tolerance and peace among the youth ahead of December polls.
He encouraged the candidates to collaborate with the NCCE and consider adopting the Krachi East Municipal Assembly as part of their development agenda if elected.
